Southeast Arkansas College’s Phlebotomy Technician program provides a comprehensive introduction to the essential skills and knowledge needed for a career in phlebotomy. This intensive one-semester program covers a wide range of topics, from proper blood collection techniques, including venipuncture and capillary collection, to handling and transporting specimens. Students will learn about pre-analytic complications, forensic toxicology, and collection from various patient populations, including adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics, in diverse settings like homes and long-term care facilities. The curriculum extends beyond blood collection, encompassing the collection of urine and other body fluids.
